Case Highlights
The Law Office of David Asch is prosecuting a case against Radiant Life Church and their Senior Pastor, Tony Cunningham. There are allegations of abuse by the Senior Pastor. The Pastor has an obligation to put his interest below the interest of his congregation. This position of authority requires him to have loyalty to his community. The complaint filed in the Sacramento Superior Court alleges that Radiant Life Church failed to take any steps to correct the behavior of the Pastor.
In 1997 it is alleged that a congregant wrote to the Board of Elders with concerns and accusation of self dealing, spiritual abuse as well as cult behavior. The allegations stated that the Pastor would never be wrong and would question the spiritual foundation of anyone who challenged him.
The complaint alleges that the Pastor took advantage of business people in the Radiant Life Community. The Pastor needlessly endangered their financial and emotional futures when the Pastor instructed these members to put their money into business ideas the Pastor had. These business people were unable to be disciplined and question the wisdom of this advice/command.
A Plaintiff against Radiant Life Church alleges he put in over a million dollars and another put in over $250,000.00 into what the Pastor told them to do. Financial ruin visited these men and their families. Their injuries are to their confidence, beliefs and being isolated from their community causeing great emotional harm.
The Senior Pastor took many women into his “inner circle” as his spiritual daughters. These women were told that their husbands were spiritually unfit. The Sacramento Superior Court complaint alleges that this husband/wife relation was strained to a breaking point. Allegedly Radiant Life Church knew that spiritual parenting was being practiced and were aware of the great harm this caused.
